Do I Have a Backing?

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31 (NIV)

In 1937 the great Golden Gate Bridge (the one-mile-wide, three-mile-long channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean) was completed. It cost over $35 million to build and was completed in two phases: the first slowly and the second rapidly. In the first stage, no safety devices were used. As a result, twenty-three men fell to their deaths. However, for the final part of the project, a large safety net was used as a precaution. At least ten men fell into the net and were saved from certain death. Once the net was installed production increased by 25%. Why? Because the men were assured of their security and they were free to wholeheartedly serve the project.

Security is a critical element in life. In fact, we all love to be backed by someone or something. Yesterday after reading my devotion one of the student sent me the following message on WatsApp. I asked him/her if I could use the conversation as an illustration. He/She said, “Achen you can use it but please don’t reveal my name.” I promised him/her I won’t disclose his/her identity. I wanted this to be published for I know there are many like him/her and this will be a great motivation for them.

This is what he/she said, “Achen, what you said is true. There are people who are in a position to help us but they won’t do it. They only help the people in their gang…..Only if you have a gang to help you, only then your quota and patient work gets over…But finally God helps those who don’t have any senior or demos to help.”

Did you hear that. That’s the testimony of a student who has tasted Lord and have come to know that God is Good. It sure does make a difference if we know someone is for us? Get ready for some great good news: God is for us and He is there to back us!

The verse says, "If God is for us ..." The Greek word for "if," in this case, doesn't mean that God's being for us is a possibility. Instead, it's a certainty. This statement isn't about the possibility of God's love for us - it's about the certainty of God's love for each of us.

Your family may have turned their backs on you, your professors may not be ready to understand you, your child may have disappointed you, your job may have disappeared into the thin air of layoffs and cutbacks ... but the maker of the mountains is for you. The One who laid the floor of the oceans is for you. The one who scattered the more than 100 billion stars over 100 billion galaxies, in what scientists say is a length of more than 30 million light years with a playful toss of his hand, is for you!

God is for you. Not was, not will be or might be, but is, right now. There is no waiting. There will be no probationary period. There is no small print to wade through. Right now, God is for you. His availability to you is not dependent on whether or not you've been good or bad.

If you still doubt if God is there for you, He has given a solid proof. The Cross. The cross is the unspeakable , indescribable proof that God is for you. So fear not, for, you are backed by God.
